After walking into my book store today and hearing Weird Al doing the Pussycat Dolls song Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was A Freak Like Me, it just seemed perfect smile.gif Al was doing it to a Jewish Polka beat that is often played at wedding day forays. It struck me that this was a pairing like Van Dyke and Brian. Can't you just see it now ??? Mike Love and Weird Al doing songs from Smirk , Mikes unreleased solo album. Of course Weird Al chooses who he tours with so there might be some arguments. But the gist of the thought lives on wink.gif laugh.gif

Nice to see Weird Al Yankovic back in action. Someone on this board (or another board) was regretting his absence from the scene in view of all the recent songs crying out to be parodied. (I must admit my favourite title of his is the Simple Minds spoof "Don't You Forget About Meat". laugh.gif )

Yeah, Smirk!! Perhaps Mike and Weird Al could duet on "Smurf's Up". Or give Smirk the medieval treatment with "Serf's Up" and "Heroes and Villeins", featuring you-know-who on shagbut... tongue.gif

Having said all that, perhaps we should focus first on getting Mike back together with Unweird Al... smile.gif
Endless Anthropomorphism
Weird Al would have a hard time trying to come up with a better Beach Boys parody than Mike Love's version. ohmy.gif

EA, you must bow down to Mikeys first solo album, Straight Out Of Hawthorne. I do believe a pre-pubescent Marshall Mathers is jiggy on the foot-board smile.gif Now our Dear Wierd Al, Mike's buddy like Van Dyke is to Brian, has been hanging with his hawthorness to add ecological lyrics to drag races and panty raids. This album like Smile was too far ahead of it's time. As Michael Jackson wrote a song about it, "Bad".
By the way this my month of silliness until the all hallows. I am pulling for Elvira to drop by and loom large and speak to get things off her chest smile.gif

You are not far off. About 6 years ago, Wierd Al did open for Al Jardine at the Antelope Valley Fair.
Also there is a track on Weird Al's new album which is heavally influenced by the Brian Wilson

Why thank you smile.gif But if you read my daily ramblings I was been halloweenish as that most American of holidays is coming soon. You know when I was a kid in England in the 50's we never had or saw Halloween. The first time I saw it was October the 31st, 1961. Thats the day we landed from our ship on American soil or it it soiled ? We spent the complete day walking around and taking those bus tours of New York. What an amazing city for a 11 year old British kid to see. Around 7.00 pm on the way back to our fab hotel I saw kids dressed as ghouls and ghosts. I asked my Mother what they were and her exact words were these children will soon be friends for you. She knew I was lonely and wanted to hang with my own age unlike on the boat where I was the "joy" of adults for the 8 day cruise it took to get here. I was a bit put off as I never saw kids dress like that even when they were bearing candy. 45 years later British and European candy still kicks America's butt. We went to a diner and I played the jukebox and got 3 plays for a nickel. I played Hit The Road , Jack, Lets Get Together,yeah-yeah-yeah and Chain gang. I got special treatment as having an accent then was pre British Invasion and the waitress thought I was well mannered. Maybe as I wasn't dressed as a clan member or a ghoul smile.gif Strange what stays in your memory but it was my first day here wink.gif

He also re-did Vegatables on his new CD. I thought it sad that Tower Records will soon be gone , Bankrupt. Brian siad every month he spends about $200.00 to $300.00 on new music. Someone asked him what new music he bought this week and it was The Beatles, aka The White Album. Thats 38 years old now I believe smile.gif
