This has been contested, but it seems that John Maus of the WBs gave Carl and Dave Marks guitar lessons when they were still all teenagers. smile.gif

Can't think of a question right now, or of a group that could have wupped Capitol's @ss... cool.gif

Thats correct and its also correct the rumor is written in the Walker Brothers camp and not so much in the BB's. But it's another unknown rumor that could be true and only David is alive to state the BB's camp's answer wink.gif

Its funny on Groucho Marx's show You Bet Your Life, he always asked the audience members if they didn't make any money, who was buried in Grants Tomb. Believe it or not some people got it wrong wink.gif

What song did Reggie Dunbar write with Brian and why is it so unusual ????

"Guess I'm Dumb" was Brian's gift to Glen Campbell...

Reggie Dunbar (aka Murry) co-wrote "Break Away".
Checking out Andrew's Little Blue Book, I see all the BBs except Mike shared lead vocal duties on this one (Mike's well in evidence in the bass department). I see also that Brian did all the leads on a demo version since released on Endless Harmony which I shall be picking up from my local friendly record shop later in the day... wink.gif
So in fact it was AGD who answered this question. smile.gif

On which BB song does Dennis sing some lyrics that are way down in the mix and more or less inaudible?

Thats right my friend. My fave Beatle song was the Swans The Boy With The Beatle Hair. I liked that they used the label She Loves You came out on , thats when Beatle records didn't entice Capitol and Swan was an off shot Of Vee Jay, the first label to release a Beatles album over here.
I never bought or liked Ringo and I love westerns. Somehow it was like a gimmick that worked and got a country and Western record on the pop charts. I will not answer your question and leave it for our Dennis lover smile.gif

Apart from a trio of singing brothers i'm gonna guess the fact they have the same biographer (David Leaf).

Ok.Staying alive on the subject of the Bee Gees, how did their number one single "Love You Inside Out" in 1979 equal a chart record held by The Beatles?

Here's a new trivia question for you guys to chew on:

Remember Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane, the leader of the group Spanky and Our Gang? She is the middle member of a trifecta of musicians that changed rock and roll music forever, due to a particular fact about her life. What is this particular fact about "Spanky", and who are the other two members of this trifecta?

To use your expression: Ouch! I spent an hour last night googling Ms McFarlane, to little avail. (I only vaguely remember S&OG's single "I'd Like to Get To Know You".) Still, I managed to unearth two facts that may be relevant, actually only one:

She sang about social injustice ("Give A Damn", which was even a minor hit) on prime-time TV (The Smothers Brothers Show) and it was that word which had the complaints pouring in. So she addressed at least one taboo - or certainly brought it into the public eye. In which case, who did that before her, and who afterwards, assuming trifecta to indicate a succession through time? mellow.gif

(The other fact is that the band seems to have made one of the very first music videos but this was a band effort and not just just her.)

Bruce, is it worth my while pursuing this path or am I hopeless lost?? unsure.gif

Hey presto, your trifecta:

18 June 1942: Paul McCartney born
19 June 1942: Elaine ("Spanky") McFarlane born
20 June 1942: Brian Wilson born

Nice going, John. Yes, the progression that changed music forever: McCartney, McFarlane, B. Wilson. Although it's hard to see that Elaine truly pulled her weight, eh?

A trivia question, but not one to zap a surprise answer on you, but one which I want answers for myself:

A friend of mine and I were discussing the odd fact that Jim Seals and Dan Seals were brothers who played simultaneously with two different bands (Seals and Crofts, and England Dan and John Ford Coley, respectively). We were wondering if there were other times when this happened (different bands, not solo careers, which happens quite often). Here is what we have come up with:

(1) Jim and Dan Seals

(2) Paul McCartney (Beatles) and Mike 'McGear' McCartney (Scaffold)

(3) Jim Yester (The Association) and Jerry Yester (Lovin' Spoonful)

(4) Dave Clark (Dave Clark Five) and Honey Lantree (The Honeycombs) were half-brother and -sister

Can you guys think of others??

Jimmy Vaughan of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Stevie Ray Vaughan of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.

Donnie Van Zant of 38 Special, Ronnie Van Zant of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Van Zant of the current Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Johnny Winter of Winter & the Johnny Winter Band and Edgar Winter of White Trash & the Edgar Winter Group.

Phil Alvin of The Blasters and Dave Alvin (former and sometime Blaster) briefly of X, The Knitters and Dave Alvin and The Guilty Women.

Not simultaneously, but one after another and in between...

Tim Finn of Split Enz and Neil Finn of Crowded House. They were also members of each others band for a period of time as well as The Finns.

Were the Van Zant's in those bands simultaneously?

I had thought of the Winters, but always reckoned Johnny to be a solo performer.

38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd are ongoing bands. So yes, Donnie plays with 38 Special while either one of his brothers was/is with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Although the albums are credited to Johnny Winter, his albums and concerts were band efforts.

That's pretty much it...but the judges say you miss it on a technicality.

When Paul is singing "Twenty Flight Rock", he only counts as high as eight. After that, he jumps up to the number twelve. Otherwise, correct.

For everyone else, here's the complete answer to the question:

All Together Now (10)
One, two, three, four, can I have a little more?
Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, I love you...

Driving Rain (10)
One, two, three, four, five, let's go for a drive
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, let's go there and back again...

Kansas City / Hey Hey Hey Hey (9)
I'm going to Kansas City, gonna get my baby one time
It's just a one two three four, five six seven eight nine...

Twenty Flight Rock (8)
So I walk one flight, two flight, three flight, four
five six seven flight, eight flight more
Up on the twelfth I'm starting to sag...

You Never Give Me Your Money (7)
One two three four five six seven
All good children go to heaven...

Ballroom Dancing (4)
Ballroom dancing made a man of me
One two three four, I just plain adore my ballroom dancing...

In the original, Eddie Cochran sings first time round "Upon the 12th I'm startin' to drag, 15th floor I'm ready to sag". Second and third times it's "ready to drag" (12th) and "startin' to sag" (15th). But it's always drag before sag. smile.gif
